When Alex and I first decided to step into the world of real estate years ago, we had absolutely no idea what we were doing—or who we’d meet along the way. Like most people starting out, we quickly discovered the overwhelming amount of “knowledge” out there. Some of it was solid, some of it… not so much.
If you’ve ever dipped your toes into real estate education, you know the type: the self-proclaimed gurus with shiny marketing funnels, endless courses, and pricey monthly subscriptions. For some people, that model works. But for us, it wasn’t the path we wanted to take.
Then, earlier this year, we stumbled onto something different—something better. We found the real educators. Not the ones pushing content for clicks, but the ones who pick up the phone when you’re stuck on a deal. The ones who have lived through market cycles, solved problems that looked impossible, and carry the kind of wisdom you can’t package into a webinar.
We’ve been fortunate to learn directly from legends like Pete Fortunato, Bill and Kim Cook, John Schaub, David Tilney, and Gary Johnston. These are the tried-and-true problem solvers—the white-haired, bald-headed veterans who’ve been in the game for decades and are still passionate about passing their knowledge on to the next generation.
And honestly, we’re grateful for every “guru” we met along the way too, because without those detours we might never have found the mentors who continue to shape our journey.
As we look ahead, we can’t wait to see where the next decade of learning, growth, and experience takes us.
Cheers to the road ahead,
Alex & Mia
